Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best: 

Wellness Care (preventative care) and Vaccinations:  We strive to prevent illness whenever possible.  The time and effort invested in wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners.  Our wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include:  comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea/tick control; vaccination program; spay and neuter procedures and specialized blood tests for all life stages.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.  
    
Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.  We encourage owners to allow preanesthetic bloodwork as a test of organ function for revealing possible hidden health conditions or genetic disorders that could predispose your pet to becoming a surgical anesthetic risk.  During any surgical procedure a fully trained veterinary and technical staff, with the use of anesthetic monitoring devices closely observe your pet.  Surgical pain management remains a part of our protocol to ensure greater comfort postoperatively.  We are pleased to be one of the first hospitals in Powell to offer laser surgery for our patients.  Laser surgery results in reduced pain, reduced bleeding, and reduced swelling both during and after your pet's surgery.  Why laser surgery?

      Less pain  --  the laser seals nerve endings so 
                               your pet may require less anesthesia
                               during the operation, reducing the risk of 
                               complications.  Pain after surgery is
                               also reduced.
                        
      Less bleeding  --  the laser seals small blood vessels
                                      during surgery.

      Less swelling  --  laser surgery does not crush, tear
                                     or bruise because there is no
                                     physical contact with the tissue.
   


Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
   
Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
   
Dentistry:  Ultrasonic scaling is used to clean each tooth thoroughly above and below the gum line.  The teeth are polished to create a smooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup.   Dental sealant is applied after all cleanings.  We are equipped with extraction devices for use in the extraction of teeth needed in advanced dental disease.    

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide 
for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and 
parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
        
Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
   
Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Microchipping:  Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families.  We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
    
Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Grooming & Bathing:  We have an excellent professional groomer on staff with over 15 years of grooming experience.  Grooming of all breeds is by appointment only.  Routine and therapeutic bathing services are also available by appointment.
